Semenanjung Muria merupakan tapak terpilih rencana pembangunan PLTN di Indonesia dan secara geologi gunung api masih perlu kajian komprehensif khususnya geokimia keberadaan Semenanjung Muria. Tujuan makalah ini adalah memperoleh kejelasan keberadaan gunung api purba yang menyusun Semenanjung Muria, dengan mendasarkan pada kajian fisis geologi gunung api dan kimia batuan gunung api yang menyusunnya. Bentang alam gunung api Genuk memperlihatkan tinggian bukit kerucut (+ 704 dpl.) yang bagian puncaknya telah hilang dan tererosi lanjut, terisolir, geometri lereng fasies proksimal-medial simetri, disusun oleh batuan gunung api masif (lava dan batuan intrusi), lava bantal dan fragmental (tuf pumis dan breksi piroklastika), dan komposisi kimia K2O (4,23 - 5,11 % berat) menunjukkan afinitas magma shosonit dan membangun jalur gunung api sendiri. Kajian geologi gunung api menunjukkan bahwa tinggian bukit Genuk merupakan sisa tubuh gunung api purba yang muncul sebagai akibat adanya celah pada kerak sehingga magma dapat keluar dan membangun Khuluk Genuk, mengalami fase inisiasi di bawah muka air laut dan berkembang menjadi gunung api komposit, muncul sebagai pulau laut, dan hancur membentuk kaldera Genuk. Kata kunci: Gunung Genuk, gunung api purba, kaldera, Semenanjung Muria, khuluk. Abstract Genuk volcano is a part of the Muria Peninsula which is located in the northern part of Central Java Province. Muria Peninsula is the site selected in Indonesia plans for building nuclear power plants whereas the geology of volcanoes still need a comprehensive study of the Muria Peninsula in particular geochemical existence. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the existence of ancient volcanoes that made up the Muria Peninsula, based on the study of physical volcanic geology and chemistry of volcanic rocks arranged. The landscape of volcanic hill Genuk shows altitude cone (+ 704 above sea level) that the top has been lost and eroded further, isolated, medial proximal slope facies symmetrical geometry, composed by massive volcanic rocks (lavas and intrusive rocks), pillow lavas and fragmentation rocks (tuff stones and pyroclastic breccias), and chemical composition of K2O (4,23 to 5,11 wt%) shows shoshonite magma affinity and build its own line of volcanoes. Geological studies show that the altitude of Genuk hill volcano is the remnant of an ancient volcano body emerged as a result of cracks in the crust so that the magma can erupted and build khuluk Genuk, through a phase of initiation below sea level and developed into a composite volcano, appeared as an island sea, and violent explosion occurred to form a caldera Genuk.
